Down For The Count
Just four short days ago
I was warm and snug
Out of the lurking shadows
came a nasty flu bug
What an uppercut!
It landed on the chin
and felt like a truck
with bells ringing
My appetite said bye, bye
and I was cold, very cold
Previous meals began to fly
Hours, maybe a day old
I shook violently
could hardly stand or walk
I turned in full degree
still symptoms stalked
Life can be very wonderful
yet I must confess
There were moments so awful
I almost called for death
Four days and nights on
I am on the mend
It’s good to see another dawn
and call God a friend
